RUSTIC NATIVITY SCENE

I put this little nativity scene together for our two [almost three] year old daughter, Sophia, to play with.

& she LOVES it!! it is the sweetest thing, as a mother, to see your daughter creating memories.

It makes me nostalgic of when my sister and I would play with our nativity set as little girls during the Christmas season.

I love catching her playing with the little figurines and being able to then teach her about the meaning of Christmas on a level that she understands.

I used an old figurine set in place of the set that came with the nativity scene, only because this set has been dearly loved on by Sophia.. she has chipped the paint and broken the head off of Joseph multiple times..

at some point I plan on painting this wooden figurine set, but that might not happen until next year. lol.

so for now, I threw the old set in there & it works. ya know?

[I also plan on putting the new figurine set, that came with the nativity, under a cloche with a few bottle brush trees.

will post pics on IG once that happens!!]

see below for all of the links to the supplies that I used to make this rustic nativity scene, along with instructions on how I put it together!

INSTRUCTIONS & SUPPLIES :

cut your moss mat into an oval that fits along the inside edge of your wood round

peel the backing off of your moss and place it on top

place your rustic nativity scene on top of your moss

build your steps out of the small wood rounds by stacking three on top of each other

use glue dots to secure them in place

also, lay a strip of your moss mat across the top of your steps, connecting them to your nativity

place your moss around the front, just before the steps, on the sides of the steps, and around the back of the nativity

I also used some greenery that I already had to spruce it up a bit around the back

place a large size and a small size tree on one side, and balance it out with a medium size tree on the other side.

use glue dots to secure them.

I cut the star out on my cricut maker, but you can easily trace it and cut it and cut it out with regular scissors.

the handmade look makes it even more whimsical in my opinion!

attach it to a wooden dowel using hot glue,

& tie a velvet ribbon below it.

then hot glue the dowel to your nativity.

cannot wait to see all of your rustic nativity scenes!
